The Secret Sauce
Now I promised you the secret formula for sticking around to the end, so here it is.
If you’re someone that would say to me “Sally, I’ve been training every morning, fasted, only black coffee for energy, pushing myself for 1 hour every session, 5 days a week for the last 3 months and I haven’t lost a single kilo, how is this possible, like I’m not even eating?!”, then this is for you.
You may not be eating in your fasted training sessions, but your body sure is. It’s just eating YOU. What happens when you don’t have any sugar in your bloodstream, and you get to the gym to train, you’ll be out of energy after 20 minutes.
Your body only has a 20min reserve of glycogen. What happens when that’s used up? Your body needs energy now!
It takes 3 minutes to liquify lean muscle, and it takes 5 HOURS to turn fat into energy. So, where do you think your body is getting energy?
Your body is burning your own lean muscle.
What happens in this scenario is, you’re giving it your all on the treadmill on an empty stomach, you’re actually digesting your own lean muscle.Â
